Master's Programmes in Computational Science and Applied Computational Science
Master's degree, 120 credits
Computations are becoming more and more important in research and industry. To make predictions, analysis or to replace experiments, we make use of numerical simulations and machine learning on large computers. We generate and store large amounts of data and use data science to search for patterns, connections, and trends.
We offer a cross-disciplinary master's programme in computational science. Currently the programme has four different specializations for students with backgrounds in mathematics, physics or geosciences. For students with less mathematics in their portfolio, there is a master's programme in applied computational science with currently five specializations. The programmes are conducted in English.
Master's Programme in Computational Science
The Master's Programme in Computational Science will give you in-depth knowledge of computational science methods with regard to natural science subjects. You learn to study various complex scientific processes and how computational science can contribute to the development of knowledge in society.
Read more about the four separate specializations:
- Computational Science, Geoscience
- Computational Science, Physics
- Computational Science, Scientific Computing
- Computational Science, Life Sciences – new programme starting in 2026
Master's Programme in Applied Computational Science
The Master Programme in Applied Computational Science will give you detailed knowledge about the underlying methods with respect to Natural Science. You will learn how to study complex processes in natural sciences, and how Applied Computational Science can contribute to knowledge evolution in society.
