Research

Research at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences addresses fundamental and applied questions concerning the Earth’s past, present and future climate and environment, including people’s interactions with the natural world and the consequences for human wellbeing.

Our researchers at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences advance and apply cutting-edge methods, models and technologies in environmental science, Quaternary science, bedrock geology, palaeontology, physical geography, biodiversity and ecosystem science, remote sensing, Geographic Information Science (GIS), and computational science for health and the environment, to study processes ranging from the microscopic to the planetary, across all time scales.
