ClimBEco has a number of strategic collaborations within Lund University, nationally and internationally.
The School of Integrated Climate and Earth System Sciences

The collaboration between ClimBEco and the School of Integrated Climage and Earth System Sciences (SICSS) began in 2024 and is continuing to develop. Our respective research environments are both leading in the fields of environmental and climate science, and we see many advantages to establishing more space for collaboration in the future.

The Bolin Centre for Climate Research

The graduate research schools the Bolin Climate Research School (CRS) and ClimBEco, each situated within their respective national Strategic Research Areas, have a formal agreement of cooperation in place since 2020. In effect, this cooperation opens up the opportunity for PhD students enrolled in the respective graduate research schools to access a broader curriculum of courses and to network nationally with scholars in similar fields of study.
Since 2024 the Bolin Centre has reorganized to host an Early Career Researchers (ECR) Network, focused primarily on hosting small projects, workshops, and events more than PhD courses. Within the Strategic Research Area environments, there are opportunities for collaborations specifically aimed at early-career researchers.
ClimBEco PhD students should first contact the ClimBEco research administrator before registering for courses or events offered by the Bolin ECR Network.

Research School at the Faculty of Forest Sciences, SILVA
Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU
Cooperation between the research school SILVA at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and ClimBEco started in 2021. It includes sharing relevant information on courses and activities for our respective PhD students and, where identified, co-hosting seminars and workshops of common interest.

Joint PhD seminars on environmental challenges
Lund University
This series has been host to 14 seminars since it was initiated in 2019. Since 2025 it is a passive project whereby participants of any of the collaborating enviornments can contact ClimBEco if interested in hosting a new seminar.
PhD candidates across Lund University conduct research at the intersection of nature and society where environmental crises appear. While using various methods and exploring different questions, their work can intersect in meaningful ways. Engaging in discussions can enhance understanding, foster new collaborations, and enrich the PhD research experience.
This series was initiated by and for PhD students. It was a joint initiative by ClimBEco, the Centre for Environmental and Climate Science, LUCSUS, IIIEE and the Agenda 2030 Graduate School - all strong interdisciplinary environments at Lund University.
