LU Land is a platform that gathers researchers and societal actors with the aim to jointly identify, discuss and find solutions to challenges related to an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable land-use. Our vision is to bridge the traditional borders between sectors and disciplines, and by the means of constructive dialogue and collaboration together solve the often complex societal challenges arising on our road towards a sustainable land-use.
BECC stands for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in a Changing Climate and is an interdisciplinary strategic research environment aimed at better understanding how land use and a changing climate affect ecosystems and biodiversity. The research focuses on Swedish ecosystems. BECC includes about 300 researchers from Lund University and the University of Gothenburg and is organizationally based at the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at LU.
MERGE is a strategic research area with over 200 researchers conducting climate modeling research at regional and global scales, with a focus on vegetation and terrestrial ecosystems. Participating partners include Lund University, University of Gothenburg, Linnaeus University, Chalmers, KTH, and SMHI (Rossby Centre). MERGE is organizationally based at the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at LU.
Nature-based Future Solutions is one of five profile areas at Lund University. Researchers within this profile focus on ecosystem-based approaches to address biodiversity loss and climate change, and how these intertwined crises can be linked to sustainable societal development.
